Computer Studies
Do you like using computers? Are you interested in the practical application of information technology? If you answered Yes to these questions then this is the subject for you. Computer Studies will provide you with the opportunity to develop important computer skills that you will need in your life. You will use computers as a tool for the rest of your life and the ability to use applications efficiently and creatively will place you in a very good position when you leave school.
Content: When you study Computer Studies, you will learn how the computer is used as a data management tool; as a publishing tool; as a problem-solving tool. You will also learn about how computers are used in the workplace and the social implications of information technology. You will create multi media presentations, design web pages and learn how to use the Internet efficiently.
Assessment: You will be required to complete three assessment pieces per semester. These assessment pieces will be in-class tests, project work and teacher observation. As you develop skills, your competency of these skills will be recorded.
Career Pathways: Information communication and technology skills can be transferred to any career that you may choose to pursue – every facet of our lives requires IT skills. The technical skills you learn will enable you to have a career as a computer technician. Your computer skills can be used in Office Administration, Teaching, Retail, Graphic Design – the list is endless.
