During the two-year course of study students are engaged in studies in a number of key areas such as:

·       An Artist Makes Meaning (Ritual and Symbol)
·       The Critical Artist (Social Justice)
·       The Artist’s Weapon (Satire)
·       The Artist’s Search for Identity (Australian)
·       Who are the Alternative Artists? (Absurdism)

Assessment: Students are assessed in the Three Dimensions of Drama:
  • Forming – active participation in making and shaping dramatic actio
  • Presenting – using practical knowledge in conveying meaning to a live audience.
  • Responding – reflecting upon and using higher order thinking in practical and written tasks.
Throughout your two-year study, you will be involved in a range of individual and group performances both scripted and student-devised. As a Drama student you will engage in scriptwriting, directing and writing tasks that are a response to live theatre productions. Your Year 11 Studies will be your foundation year with emphasis on determining "level of achievement" based on work completed in Year 12 only.

Career Pathways: As a Drama student you will gain valuable theoretical and practical experience during your two-year course of study. This experience will help you as a young adult.  Careers opportunities exist in Primary and Secondary Drama teaching, or working as a Creative Artist, an Arts Administrator, an Actor, a Set Designer, a Sound Technician, a Stage Manager or a Creative Writer.

Costs: Covered by Resource Hire Scheme. As a Drama student you will also visit the theatre as part of your Drama studies. There will be at least four professional theatre visits throughout your two-year study, costing approximately $60-$70 in total for all visits.
