In Year 11, all assessment is formative. Thus, formal but formative assessment of processes and skills conducted during Year 11 becomes a learning experience for the student, whose performance should benefit when similar techniques are applied for summative purposes in Year 12.

Career Pathways: In a wide range of careers, the skills of analysis, argument and research which History students acquire, produces an adaptability which can lead into many careers. As technology changes so rapidly, employers look for adaptable, multi-skilled workers who can be given in-service training in all areas of government, corporate and administrative fields. Associations, clubs, Government departments, and business organisations frequently commission books about their full-time occupations. Heritage and environment is also becoming an increasingly important destination for History graduates. Specialist tourism is another growing field and already some History graduates have found work as specialist guides both in Australia and overseas. However, it is still the Federal and State governments which prefer History graduates for posts as graduate officers, research assistants, and Young Diplomats in the Australian Diplomatic Service. Other career opportunities lie in such fields as Research Assistants, Journalists, Lawyers, Archivists, Computer Programmers, Economists, Scientists and the list goes on.
