Technology Studies
Content
When you study Technology Studies you will solve practical problems by creating items in the workshop. The design of these objects will be determined by you. Technology studies focuses on the following areas of study: design, safety, materials, tools, processes and systems.
Assessment: Your assessment will be the form of 5 tasks; a design folio, a research report, a practical solution, an evaluation of the practical solution and an end of semester exam.
Career Pathways: Technology studies skills are transferable to all aspects of life as the underlying principle of all tasks is developing practical problem solving skills. The subject will be of particular value (however by no means limited) to students wishing to pursue careers in a technical or trade environment. It is also an excellent subject for those wishing to develop skills in design, project management and product construction.
Costs
Year 11 – Covered by Resource Hire Scheme
Year 12 – Major and minor projects are solely funded by the student
