The Cisco Networking Academy Program
Indooroopilly State High School has linked with the University of Queensland to offer this special networking course. Students will learn the theory and practice of constructing computer networks using data cables and network components. The course is designed by CISCO – one of the worlds leading providers of networking equipment.
The course leads to the CCNA (CISCO Certified Networking Associate) qualification – an internationally recognized standard. Students completing the course at Indooroopilly State High School are able to take the final qualifying exam at University of Queensland as soon as they finish school – giving them an immediate qualification and potential employment.
The course is unlike any other offered by the school
Course Requirements
Lesson Times: The course is timetabled on a Wednesday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:30pm and does not conflict with other subject line choices.
Materials: Students will be required to keep a separate notebook (which is supplied by the school) for the course into which all course materials are filed.
Cost: The course will cost $225 per semester. This cost covers the equipment used for practical sessions, its maintenance and upgrading, audit and training costs. The course cost is payable in advance for each semester.
Prior Knowledge: Students do not need any prior knowledge of networks or computing but should have a genuine interest in these as well as good problem solving and communication skills. Good results in junior mathematics, science and English are generally good indicators of ability in these areas.
