Health and Physical Education

The Health and Physical Education department aims to instill in every child a basic knowledge and understanding of the value and importance of health and physical activity. The programs of the department are designed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices for all individuals. The lifelong nature of learning in the physical education programs contributes directly to the schools mission statement of 'Forward Thinking'. Students are encouraged and challenged to explore the worlds of sport, exercise, health and well being through engagement in rigorous and rewarding learning experiences. In year 8, students cover topics from adolescence, puberty and self-esteem, to fitness and active lifestyles and harm minimisation. These units are taught concurrently with practical activities such as badminton, Australian rules football, volleyball and athletics.
