TechnologyIn the Technology Key Learning Area you will be designing and making products in Home Economics and Industrial Technology.
Home Economics: Through a variety of individual, group and class activities you will "de-construct" consumer goods to determine if quality materials and production processes have been used, and if these products will perform the tasks for which they are intended. You will use problem-solving strategies to:
Practical and written activities and assignments performed in class, as well as in-class tests, will contribute towards your assessment in this subject.
Industrial Technology: The course will provide you with the opportunity to complete projects in the following areas:
Graphics – You will learn the fundamentals of graphical communication by completing two (2) and three (3) dimensional drawings by using manual drafting techniques and Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Workshop – You will use hand and power tools to create wooden and acrylic products. You will also learn ways to fabricate items out of metal.
All workshop tasks are completed in class and graphics work will be a combination of class work and homework. All tasks contribute towards your assessment for this subject.
