At Indooroopilly State High School, students experience Quality Learning. Our pedagogical approach is informed by the research-based Marzano's New Art and Science of Teaching (NASOT). This underpins the teaching, learning and daily interactions that occur in our school community and are the foundations upon which we nurture forward-thinking students. Our teachers focus on highly effective elements from NASOT to plan for and implement engaging lessons that build relationships, set challenging learning goals and celebrate student success. Teachers regularly engage in professional development and self-reflection to improve our student outcomes.

Students explore academic agility and effective strategies for learning throughout our Connect Program, supported by our Indro Learners' Toolkit. This Toolkit includes tips and strategies for learning such as retrieval and spaced practice. The toolkit encompasses:

  • Be organised
  • Be focused
  • Have a Growth Mindset
  • Use Learning Strategies
  • Enact Feedback

Descriptions and resources related to the Top 5 toolkit can be found by following the Quick Links on the right.
