Young people today face many challenges and hurdles as they grow through adolescence to become our next generation of leaders, decision makers, role models and parents. The school offers an excellent School Chaplaincy service provided by Scripture Union Queensland, supported by local churches and the Parents and Citizens’ Association, that aims to provide ongoing support to students in social, emotional and spiritual areas of life.
his service takes a holistic approach to the support and care of the school community. As such, the Chaplain aims to engage local churches, community members and organisations in encouraging a sense of wellbeing and community within the school. Students are encouraged to access the general support of the Chaplaincy service through Student Services, regardless of their faith background. The Local Chaplaincy Committee receives a contribution from the Federal Government. If you would like to donate directly to chaplaincy at Indooroopilly State High School, the following link has been provided that is regulated by SU QLD.

Hi school community, my name is Jacob or Chappy Jake. I am the new school chaplain. I will be at school on Monday, Thursday and Friday and I can be found in G block next to Student Services.
Before I was a chaplain I was in the automotive trade as a panel beater for 6 years. Always keen to have a chat and give some good insight into the trade industry.
Just over a year ago I I felt in my heart I needed to change career pathways. I have spent this time studying and gaining practical experience getting me ready for a role in chaplaincy.
My wife and I have two young energetic boys aged- four and eight. I love watching/playing sport and I am a massive Brisbane Broncos fan.
I hope that as a chaplain I can create and provide a safe place for all students and staff to share. I am ready to listen with compassionate ears. My role here at Indooroopilly is to provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to all students and staff through interacting with them through conversations, programs and lunch time activities to support and ensure their overall wellbeing.
I look forward to working with Indooroopilly High and the local community to support all students and staff. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks
Chappy Jake
