My name is Alexandra Cochran and I am looking forward to a wonderful year as the Head of Year 9 in 2023. I am an enthusiastic educator who creates an environment which allows students to reach their highest potential academically, socially and creatively. Within my role I will be supporting student wellbeing and engagement, with the view that enjoyment and success are key attributes for learning.
As a new member of the ISHS community, I have instantly felt welcomed and I am already proud to be a member of this positive school culture. It has been inspiring to see the Year 9 cohort starting on a positive note and embodying this same sense of school pride. As well as this, the buzz of the ‘leaders of the junior school’ is certainly present within the cohort.
With this in mind, Year 9 is a year for students to further develop their leadership skills. From day one, we have encouraged the students to think of themselves as the ‘everyday leader’ and I know that myself and the Year 9 Connect teachers are looking forward to exploring these leadership skills with the Connect Classes over the duration of the year.
You are always most welcome to find me in the HOY Offices located in The Student Centre. Alternatively, please feel free to contact me at aecoc0@eq.edu.au or on 3327 8333. I’m excited to work in the Junior School Space in 2023, in particular to support our Year 9s and continue to build a positive school culture within the cohort, to foster a sense of belonging and continue to create a community of forward thinkers! I look forward to getting to know our Year 9 students and families.
