Indooroopilly State High School’s annual Open Day, held on Thursday 23 May, from 3.00pm - 7.00pm, is a highlight of the school calendar and a much-anticipated event when we get to showcase our school to prospective students, their families and the community.
Visitors can experience all that Indooroopilly State High School offers in terms of curriculum and school culture, and have the opportunity to enjoy student performances, peruse curriculum displays, and engage with teachers, school leaders, our Parents and Citizens’ Association members and students.
Prospective students and their parents are invited to attend our Indro Tours, Special Programs Evenings and annual Open Day.
Indro Tours are a special opportunity to see our school at work. You will hear about our unique culture and ethos and learn about the diverse academic programs that we offer young people. Families are guided through the school by our students and see our classes as part of a normal school day.
Our Special Programs Evenings feature in-depth Information sessions about our innovative Year 7 curriculum programs. Sessions are held for our programs in Maths and Engineering Acceleration, Spanish Immersion, Chinese Acceleration and Music Acceleration Program. Future parents and students will learn about the way these courses are structured and the requirements for entry. Families will also meet current students who are engaged in these programs.

Student reflection on Open Day
'I recommend going on the tours. Last year I was lucky enough to be a tour guide and they’re really interesting as you not only get to see the classrooms, but also the resources and hear how the subjects work. I also loved checking out all the performances, bands, dancers and choirs. There is so many great things to see at Open Day.'
Alani, Year 10 student
'I remember visiting the different subject stalls on Open Day, especially the Social Sciences stall where I got a Polaroid photo wearing a replica ancient helmet. It was lots of fun.'
Sammy, Year 12 student
'Open day is an opportunity for students and parents to learn about our vibrant school life, extra-curricular clubs and to find out more about a whole range of school activities. I recommend you to come along and hear the school band, watch students’ drama and dance performances, or have a go at the flight simulator.'
Charlie, Year 10 student
