At Indooroopilly State High School, we warmly welcome parents and carers to be a part of their student’s learning journey.
We offer three ways for parents/carers and students to meet with teachers to discuss their student’s engagement and progress. We value working together to
support every student in achieving their personal best through subject-specific interviews with classroom teachers, holistic learning progress meetings, and
academic conferences that use data to track progress and identify pathways.
LEARNING PROGRESS MEETING - YEARS 7 AND 8
Duration: 15 minutes
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Term 1
Learning Progress Meetings occur at the start of the year and are a holistic conversation between the Connect teacher, parents/carers and students to discuss all elements of learning. To do this, we have developed a coaching model that looks holistically at school engagement, student wellbeing and academic achievement.
Year 7
An opportunity to discuss how students are tracking in a general manner and about building skills to facilitate a growth mindset and academic agility.
Year 8
An opportunity to discuss your student’s continued engagement as part of the school community, their approach to academic achievement in a general manner, and developing a sense of identity as a learner.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEW - ALL YEARS
Duration: 9 minutes
Time: 2:00pm - 7:30pm
Term 2: Years 9 - 12
Term 3: Years 7, 8, 12
Parent Teacher Interviews are a point in time formal check-in between students, parents/carers and specific Subject teachers.
A subject-specific conversation with the classroom teacher around assessment and progress within a subject. It offers a range of areas for discussion including assessment feedback, student engagement and distance travelled over the course of a unit of work, semester or year.
Parents/carers and students can book to meet with multiple teachers for feedback on individual subjects and to discuss areas of improvement in future assessment for subjects.
ACADEMIC CONFERENCE - ALL YEARS
Duration: 15 minutes
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Throughout the year.
A reflective and holistic conversation with your student’s Connect teacher analysing a data snapshot to highlight strengths and identify areas for improvement.
A conversation that is guided by your student’s TrackEd profile.
In Junior Secondary, it is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the success of the year.
In Senior school, the discussion is focussed on distance travelled, ATAR predictions and tracking for pathways post schooling. The ITS (Intro to Senior) and SET (Senior Education and Training) plan for Years 9 and 10 and place a focus on pathways, subject selection, and provide an opportunity to discuss their learning goals moving into Senior Secondary.
