INTRODUCING THE SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER...
My name is Sylvie Shen. I have been a school social worker since 2022, focussing on student wellbeing and family support. I work with families and school staff to ensure students feel safe, heard, supported, and ready to learn.

WHAT DO I DO?
Student Wellbeing & Counselling
I provide one-on-one appointment and short-term counselling to students navigating stress, anxiety, family or peer conflicts, grief, trauma. We then find strategies and sustainable solutions together.
Family & Home Support
I help families during crises by connecting them with helpful community resources and services, such as financial and housing support, Centrelink, and the NDIS. I also participate in the schoolwide crisis response team.
Team Approach
I act as a bridge between school and home, collaborating with school staff, external providers and stakeholders to ensure holistic support.
WHY IT MATTERS
As a social worker, I view wellbeing through the lens of “person-in-environment". I utilise strength-based and trauma informed approaches and am committed to multicultural and neuro-affirmative practice.
